The player can manually enter AR mode by holding down the target button while evading and allowing the player to target enemies easily. At any time the player can use boosters to move quickly across the area.
If a player uses AR mode or the booster too much in a short time then the suit will overheat and will require a short period to cool down. During the colling time, Sam is less mobile. The suit will also over heate if the player performs a melee attack and certain areas will also overheat the suit. On the other hand, players now can store upto three different weapons in their inventory through the help of Blade System newly added in the game.
These weapons can be upgraded by collecting upgrade boxes or by collecting the same type of weapon. Upgrading these weapons improves player ability such as their maximum ammunition capacity with accuracy and blast radius. Players may also provide aid to their injured allies to help them recover as well as to get more weapons. In-game other mechanics include the use of explosives, commandeering enemy vehicles and the ability to use cigarettes to distract enemies and quick time events during certain battles against big enemies. In the near future, the earth’s human population will rapidly increase and the nations will fight for the resources. The United States of America tries to alleviate the energy problems. However, the Government of the Russian Federation has been overthrown in a coup d’etat by a section of the military calling themselves the order of the Russian Star. The fight starts with many twists and tricks death and survival.
Meanwhile, Sam fights against Russian forces and reaches the target to the microwave station. Candide tells Sam that Burns and Winters have betrayed the United States before killed by Burns. Burns uses the bomb in his robotic arm to kill everyone and himself too. Zaitsev tells Sam that Winters had secretly supported the order of the Russian Star and work against them. She betrayed them by using the coup as a pretext to declare war on Russia. He claims that she intends to use it to cement American Hegemony and why Order attacked the station. Sam defeats two units but finds that Zaitsev controlled them. Sam pilots the escape pod and unites with Elena Ivanova at the SBC2 spaceship. Zaitsev escapes and accomplished his mission. Winters kills herself after realizing that her plans have backfired and was inevitably exposed.
